You know what I find fascinating? When you go back over things you wrote and you find the lost last-minute scribblings and the detrital old documents: the stuff you completely forgot you'd ever written. Maybe even stuff you wish you could re-forget now that you've re-discovered it. Yet in the midst of every cringe-worthy story skeleton and pretentious poetic attempt, you unearth glimpses of yourself. Of course, they tend to be the hazy, crazy furtive glances that cause you to take a double-take and when you look back there's nothing there anymore. It's moved on. You move on. I dunno. I'm just saying. It's fascinating.
